KS2 Saxon workshop

During our workshop, our Anglo-Saxon thegn, in full armour, will introduce your students to where the Anglo-Saxons came from, what daily life was like for them, and their conflicts with the Vikings. We promise a day full of opportunities to handle our world class collection - from building a huge model Anglo-Saxon trading ship, to trying on a fabulous replica of the Sutton Hoo helmet. Your pupils will be amazed at the weight of swords, shields, and mail, and will have the opportunity to carry out Anglo-Saxon shield and spear drill (while learning Saxon words that we use derivatives of today).  Our thegn will demonstrate methods of cooking and making clothing, as well as help your students to build an incredible Saxon burh (fort). We of course take a look at 1066, and round up our workshop with a number of engaging original Anglo-Saxon stories, poems, and games.
